14 October 2009

The colonial city of Guanajuato is the stage for one of the most relevant artistic events in Mexico and Latin America: the Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC). For its 37th edition, guests of honor Quebec and Zacatecas feature the best of their artistic productions. For the first time, FIC will be inspired by a theme - “Galileo and the Telescope: 400 years” - and join worldwide celebrations of the International Year of Astronomy of the United Nations. Over 19 days, FIC will display 35 events dedicated to the astronomer, 131 companies and soloist, 40 art exhibitions, 67 academic activities, as well as three film cycles. In total, 2,300 artists from more than 20 countries will gather in 67 venues in Guanajuato. FIC will also tour some other venues of the state, as well as different cities of the country.
